All our wines are from the Languedoc region in southern France . We started out making wines in 1997. Our objective is to cultivate our vineyards with absolute respect for the environment so that our wines may express as naturally as possible their origin. We seek to preserve our local eco systems in as natural as state as possible, researching ways of allowing our vines to establish natural defences against their different predators. We feed our vines compost, made on each of our farms according to the Biodynamic principles, to ensure our soil is nurtured with live matter. The centuries of grape cultivation in this area has inspired us to believe that we can grow the fruit to make the great wines of today.

Domaine Begude is a 20 hectare property growing Chardonnay in the Limoux appellation at 400m in altitude on a limestone sandy pebble soil.

Zachys:

"Limoux is a town just south of the famous Medieval town of Carcassonne . Growing at 450 metres in altitude these Chardonnay grapes have spectacular views over the Pyrenees mountains which border France & Spain . This height allows them to have a great natural acidity. Although only 150 miles from The Mediteranean sea there is a distinct Atlantic climate influence due to the mountain ranges which are ideal conditions for growing Chardonnay. Chardonnay has been growing here since 1530.

Domaine Begude grapes are hand picked from chemical free soil and are pressed in pneumatic press to ensure that maximum juice is extracted in a most delicate way. The juice ferments in small wooden barrels during which time the lees is stirred in with the juice to extract a good flavour.

A sweet, fresh citrus bouquet greets you , its light almost zingy delicate flavours continue with honey and a slight nuttiness. A delicious well balanced not overpowering wine which can be drunk on all occasions especially with grilled white meats or fish. With no fining & only a light earth filtration this wine is suitable for vegetarians."
